Hello! My name is Micaiah Saldaña.
I’m so glad that you’ve stopped by my corner of the internet! Stay awhile, will you? But first, we should get to the reason you came to this page… To learn more about me.
I am, first and foremost, a follower of Jesus.
Jesus has changed my life, and it is my deepest desire to glorify Him through the life I live and the words I write.
I’m a writer of fiction of all sorts.
The greatest piece of writing advice I have ever received is to “Write the story of your heart.” It is my greatest intention to follow that piece of advice and write the stories that God has placed on my heart to write. I have a passion for writing historical and contemporary fiction stories (with a touch of magic, of course) about broken people. And my favorite part? The hero of my stories is always an awe-inspiring God who can put brokenness together and make something beautiful.
Of course, I’m not always writing.
When I’m not lost in the stories I spin, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading just about anything classic literature or Christian fiction, tapping away on my typewriter, and drinking lots of salted caramel hot chocolate. I also love cheering on the Chicago Cubs and traveling around the world. So far, I’ve visited over half of the USA and about fifteen countries. I’m known to have weaknesses for notebooks of all types, typewriters, good books, and making and eating practically anything with high amounts of sugar, chocolate, and/or caramel.
I’ve been published in a few other places besides here on Notebooks and Novels.
I’m happy to say that my short story “Dear Jamie, Love Rory” won the One Teen Story writing contest in 13-15 age group and was published by One Teen Story magazine in the summer of 2018 (click here to learn more about it). My short story, “The Girl That Got Away,” was published in the Blue Marble Review’s December 2019 online issue (click here to read it). An article of mine on the subject of perfectionism in writing was published in the book Project Canvas (click here to purchase a copy). I am also a columnist for PURSUE magazine (click here to visit PURSUE magazine’s website). My articles have been featured on the GirlDefined blog and on the Rebelution website. I know this isn’t a publication, but I have to mention it here: My novella Always was a finalist in the 2019 ACFW Genesis Awards in the novella category. I am so honored and proud to be able to type that. I am currently working on Always and hope to see it published one day!
